Too much to read, because I got up hella early.
I do agree with John's point that more drivers at existing events is better than more organizations throwing events. It seems like across the board, events are having less driver attendance... diluting the event pool with more events to pick and choose between will only hurt in the long run.

same stuff that's happened around here. we went from only a few events and one org. to many orgs and tons of events in a short time. the market can only support so much, and the market for drifting is still small. at some people people start falling off the radar.

Chris and I were wanting to have a conference call with, DG, DF, SEDA and US Drift to collaborate all of our schedules so we could all win. But nothing seems to work out. We thought we were going to hear back from everyone after SEMA so we could setup a time and number to call in on, but no one has been back in contact with us.
Chris and I are pretty much out of doing the events directly for oursleves. If the demand is there then we may throw something together. We have two maybe three events for sure this coming year but they are mostly for other companies that are wanting us to host the event for their company so they can carry the event as their own. At least we won't go home broke everytime now.
If everyone would work together, we could all have three or four Great Events. But I'm sure some are thinking that they will just "tough it out" and try to make ends meet. But in the end it just hurts everyone. But if everyone worked together, we could share the marketing and push each others events to make for a full grid and full house on the spectatorship. Everyone knows that Chris and I aren't ball hogs and don't really care who has events and where. We just want to sport to grow and successfully give everyone every opportunity to get out there and side for as little money as possible. But we can't all just taking hits to our wallets liek we've been doing. Hell, the Greenville event that we had last Feb (almost a year ago) was the last time we actually made some money.
Anyway, without collaboration it's just going to get worse.

I can't shake this feeling that drifting is kinda starting to kill itself. Not across the board... but from a few other angles. It also seems like a lot of dedicated drivers are at a breaking point (or a fork in the road) with continually funding their own drift effort. I can think of like 5-6 pro-level drivers that can't keep eating ramen noodles & spending every penny they have on the sport... myself included.

I still have hella fun with it... although there were a couple events this past season that made me question it (cough*nationals*cough). Driving at a pro-level always pushes me to do better than I think I can... and I love that.
Honestly... falling off that skateboard, getting that injured, having a $20,000 surgery, and not working for a month made me question things the most. I spend everything... both time and (more-so) money into this crazy sport. The fact that I have no cushion in the bank scares the hell out of me. That's why I'm at a fork in the road. Do I continue to spend every cent I make to drift at a pro-level... or do I grow up a bit and start looking at my future a bit more?
Those are the same kind of questions I hear a lot of pro-level drivers asking recently.

It sucks that pretty much all the privateers are hitting that point. They are what makes the events exciting to me. I'd rather see you guys make a couple dope runs than see rhys make the same exact run 14 times in a row flawless (although its impressive but it doesn't have that same excitement).

and i've always wondered what the DA guys are gonna be doing when their 35?
i gotta get a college degree or at least work towards one more.
i need to get something to fallback on. i was gonna give it one more year after a door opened, but looking back luckily that door burned to the ground probably for the best. just sucks because i think i lost my best freind in that fire.
but i really just wanna do local stuff and some nopi next year. lea anne said it best, give it all you've got, if thats not enough fine, at least you tried and thats all anyone should expect from you and you can go home happy. and if your not having fun then why are you doing it. if you cant do something you enjoy then you shouldnt be doing it. and every time i've gone to a local event i've had fun. didnt get my competition pissing contest for fun bug out but its still fun.
