well i got the motor pulled last thursday and i'm taking it to Mazda on Monday to order my new Reman Motor. so right now i'm at about 50% on my new motor project that i have named
Project B.
i spent about 3 hours today porting my wastegate so that i won't be spiking to 15psi like i was before. i'll have some pics up if photo bucket will let me upload the pics and host em.
EDIT:
i have the pics uploaded now so i'm gonna post em if it'll let me...

now here's the pics of the porting i did today on the wastegate....
the right hole used to be half the size of the left hole...
a little better shot to see how much i've done...
this is what you'd see if you were the exhaust coming out of the motor...
kinda like that last one..

thanks man. rotary engines are tiny when they're stripped to bare block.
i'll get some pics of the empty engine bay later once i clean it out some.

no wonder them engines get super cooked lol. I took out a engine out of my friend's FD ones, pretty amazing how small they are when you start to strip them down. awesome pics bro!

they look like a beer keg stripped down, how much did you get the reman for?? If it don't run right it might be a bad motor, i've seen several remans blown up from the start

. How much boost are you going to run? What year are going to get, the later years(s5) have more compression ratio.

wow, lots of questions for me here.
here we go...
- i'm getting the reman for $2250.
- if it doesn't run right i take it back to Mazda and they give me another one free. they're giving me a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty with this motor even with me doing all the work myself.
- after break-in i'm going to run 8psi on the low setting and my high setting will be 12-14 (haven't decided yet).
- i'm going to order an S5 motor since thats what i have. S4 won't run in my car with the wiring harness and ECU i have. i am also aware of the higher compression of the S5 motors.
hmm, what else.... oh yeah! don't worry about my fuel system, i have it taken care of for the stock turbo and stock port motor. i have an HKS F-Con and freshly cleaned injectors from RC Engineering. anything else you want to know feel free to ask.
EDIT: for boost controll i have a Blitz Dual Stage Boost Controller.

really nobody? well in that case i'm glad i could give you a new experience.
in short block form they don't weight more then probably about 180lbs.

High compression is the only way to go, have 9.4:1 rotors, same with the other one you saw. have fun w/ that puck clutch, that sounds like alot of fun on the street

. 2250 isn't to bad, i just don't trust mazda remans.

i've already ran about 800miles on that clutch combo. i had a 91 TII motor in the car but it blew (weak front apex seal). thats why i'm putting a new motor in. the HD pressure plate and 6 puck disc isn't to bad, it just takes some getting used to. it sure does grab like a vice though! its just about unslippable.

I'm putting in a act hd psi plate, and organic street disc tomorrow. Its a full disc w/ sprung hub. Same clutch my friends car has, seems to handle 380whp, so my setup shouldn't phase it a bit.

sounds good man, my 6 puck disc is UN-sprung.
